"Cooking for me is like creating this beautiful painting or photograph. We create this artwork. It's all about sharing that experience, and that discovery.

I knew I wanted to open my own restaurant when I was about 13. I was in the school playground with one of my best friends, and I said, 'Oh yeah, I'm going to open my own restaurant, and I said it's going to be Vietnamese cuisine.' I explained to him the feel of the restaurant, the colour concepts. He was one of the first people I invited to the opening night of Red Lantern. When he walked into the door and he pulled me over, and said, 'Do you remember this conversation we had when we were 13?' He said, 'You explained the restaurant and it looks exactly like it does now.'" - Chef Luke Nguyen

Over the years, we have seen so many restaurants come and go. We are proud to say that, 16 years later, Red Lantern is still going strong, surviving and thriving in what is, an incredibly fickle, saturated and competitive industry.

Over the years we have seen delicious times as well as tumultuous times – times so tough we have fallen to our knees. But in true Red Lantern style, we get back up, we dust ourselves off and we swing the bat again… and we swing the bat again.
